Signs and
Symptoms
Most of the people who suffer from anxiety are unaware of
the fact that the unusual things that happen to them are in fact anxiety disorders. In order to detect and
treat this disease as soon as possible here are the most important experiences signs which may give you a
clue about whether you suffer or not of anxiety. If you have:
- felt your chest tight and having problems with your breathing, which
have led to the increasing fear that you would not be able to breathe at a certain point;
- felt that your life is going out of control and that you are going
insane;
- experienced anxious thoughts which haunted you and they would not
disappear no matter what you did;
- normal situations, which never bothered you before, got you out of your
mind;
- feared of getting stuck in traffic jams;
- felt uncomfortable in enclosed buildings that for most of the people
seemed huge (like supermarkets and cinemas) and even going to the hairdresser seemed a burden to
you;
- experienced what it seemed to be a heart attack, but in fact it was just
anxiety,
then it is high time that you go to a doctor and tell him
about your symptoms. You should not omit none of the feelings you are experiencing.
Symptoms like the dizziness which eventually lead to
panic, the impossibility of breathing because of the tightness you feel in your throat and chest, the alert
rhythm of your heart accompanied by tingling, the hot flushes which are immediately after followed by waves
of anxiety, obsessions and unwanted thoughts which come back involuntarily, a feeling of estrangement of
everything that surrounds you and a continuous fear that anxiety will defeat you in the end, should neither
be ignored nor hidden from a doctor.
You may argue that it is normal to worry and you may be
true to a certain extend. However, when the worries monopolize your mind and everything else, starting with
your job and ending with your family and your health are affected by them they are no longer normal, but
signs of anxiety disorder. Besides the above mentioned symptoms, anxiety disorder also causes headaches and
insomnia, thus making your body unable to function properly.
According to Charles Goodstein, professor doctor of
psychiatry, anxiety is not characteristic to a small segment of population for a short period of time, but it
is rather common for the majority of people for a long period of time. According to the same view, all of us
are unconsciously suffering of anxiety. The problem arises when the intensity of this disease gets so big
that the body is no longer able to cope with it. This is when the doctors should intervene and treat anxiety
disorder.
